Osram wins huge orders for LED lamps
Recently, Osram Lighting has won a large order from the BMW Group and will modernize its energy-saving LED technology for its factories in eight major automakers in Germany and Austria. For OSRAM's Lighting Solutions (LS) business, this order is by far the largest. According to the framework agreement, 170,000 fixtures will be fully installed in multiple phases by the end of 2017. We are very happy to receive this big order. Our innovative LED lighting fixtures will incorporate the BMW Group's plants into cutting-edge technology and save energy, says Eladia Pulido, CEO of OSRAM Lighting Solutions. The first phase of the project has begun and special luminaires have been installed at the BMW Group's plants in Dingolfing and Regensburg. For Dingolf, Osram installed as many as 70,000 lamps. By installing these modern luminaires into the factory, replacing the original lighting, only a simple installation work was required, and OSRAM quickly completed this phase of work. The factory's original relay system was derived from OSCO's subsidiary Siteco, some of which were installed decades ago, but it turns out that these are easy to replace. In the trunk, the main wire system is retained, replacing only the fixture accessories. The original luminaire accessories, including fluorescent lamps, accessories and controls, were simply attached to the trunk as a cover, which is now replaced by modern LED technology. Simply plug and play, no additional circuit installation work is required during installation. In 2015, OSRAM has placed the BMW Group's warehouse in Dingolfing, all equipped with LED lighting. In this project, about 6,000 fixtures will be installed in the new logistics hall.
